VARGESIC MD

Nimesulide is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug and is used for the treatment of dysmenorrhea, osteoarthritis. It inhibits the release of a chemical substances that causes sensations of pain.
It is used for the treatment of acute pain. It is concerned with lowering the level of certain enzymes increased during the therapy.
It is also known as C-nitro compound and sulphonamide or an aromatic ether which is derived from the nitrobenzene.

Mechanism of Action-

Nimesulide inhibits the cox-2 i.e. cyclooxygenase enzyme which is responsible for the conversion of arachidonic acid into prostaglandins, free radicals, histamine and proteolytic enzyme.

Absorption- It is absorbed orally
Protein Binding- It is 97% bound to plasma proteins
Metabolism- It is metabolized in the liver
Excretion- It is excreted via feces

  • Contraindicated in people with known hypersensitivity
  • Contraindicated in hepatic impairment
  • Contraindicated in heart failure
